Functional Future Calcium Bone Matrix with trace minerals is made from 100% organic raw materials from grass-fed cattle. It contains organic calcium, protein, trace minerals, and collagen to support bone and muscle function. Calcium is needed to maintain normal teeth, bone growth, and bone development in children. The specially optimized manufacturing process for Calcium Bone Matrix is ​​part of our production of Bone Broth products. Here, we store the remaining Calcium Bone Matrix after boiling Bone Broth, which has a high calcium content and organic macro and trace minerals. Calcium Bone Matrix, also called hydroxyapatite, is then carefully dried and reduced to powder via ultrafine grinding. After grinding, the powder is filled into capsules in our production facilities in Denmark.

The product is a calcium supplement with all the organic macro and trace minerals needed as easily absorbable co-factors to build strong and durable bones. These organic macro and trace minerals constitute, among other things, zinc, selenium, copper, magnesium, manganese, and boron. This makes the product unique in its functionality and distinguishes it from conventional calcium supplements.

This product was the natural next step after the production of our Nordic and organic collagen powder (link), as after the successful completion of the project, we were left with a calcium bone matrix which, once the collagen and hyaluronic acid had been extracted, consisted of all the macro and micronutrients that supports bone mass. This functional and food-based supplement was incredibly interesting as it has many advantages compared to the existing calcium supplements.

I (Thomas, Co-Founder) myself was in a situation where, after many years of challenges with my joints, wheelchair use, and prednisolone treatment, I had developed severe osteoporosis. Osteoporosis, which also resulted in me breaking the base of my knee in 2021 after a bicycle crash, which should never have been as serious as it ended up being. The surgeons who operated on me told me that my bone was incredibly soft and had no built-in resistance to impact and falls that normal bone tissue had.

The picture above shows my knee after the extensive knee surgery. In addition to the obvious damage from the break itself and all the screws that were inserted to stabilize the joint, severe joint degeneration is also seen in my rheumatoid arthritis. After my rehabilitation, I went in search of a calcium supplement that could support my bone mass, and here, after much research, I found out that most calcium supplements were made from limestone quarry (calcium carbonate) and did not have the necessary trace minerals to be used most effectively to support bone growth. The solution was to be found in the bone mass that was left after our Bone Broth collagen production. Frederik set about investigating how to dry the material ourselves, and I had to find a way to consume the nutrient-dense powder. From right to left, the picture below shows how our raw material changes character through our manufacturing process of the Calcium Bone Matrix. First, the fresh, meaty bones are prepared and then exposed to heat, pressure, and acid during collagen and hyaluronic acid extraction, which softens the bone matrix. The last picture is from our air dryer, where the matrix is ​​dried before ultra-finely ground and encapsulated.

Also, notice that our bone matrix contains bone, the marrow, and significant amounts of collagen. However, our product is not a specific collagen supplement - that's where you need to get hold of this product (link). After a year of product development, we produced the first Calcium Bone Matrix capsules in the kitchen in Denmark.

In addition to our Calcium Bone Matrix product, I added a separate multivitamin with both vitamin D and K2 – as these vitamins are well-documented to support bone growth. We have chosen not to add any additional minerals and vitamins to our Bone Matrix as we believe that this gives our customers the most flexibility. The capsule shell is the world's first NOP-certified organic vegetable capsule consisting of pullulan, a vegetable polysaccharide polymer. Pullulan is chemically inert and dissolves completely in the digestive system without causing irritation. The capsules form an oxygen and water barrier during storage and protect the Bone Matrix powder.

Compared to ordinary calcium supplements, our product is easily absorbed by the body because calcium is bound to phosphorus instead of carbonate. This means that the product is more easily broken down and absorbed in the digestive system. Common carbonate-based calcium supplements come from chalk in the soil and have no natural connection to human bones. You may be wondering why most calcium supplements are based on calcium carbonate and not calcium phosphate and it is simply because calcium carbonate is cheaper to produce.

The packaging is completely compostable and biodegradable. The product is mainly produced with electricity from Nordic biogas plants. Our products do not contain preservatives or additives.
