Nutrition is not a diet. It's everyday life.

Emilie Løvendorf

Emilie Løvendorf. 30 years old. Mother of two small children aged two and four. Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Master's degree in Sports Science, former elite handball player, and certified yoga instructor.

We visited Emilie Løvendorf at home on a normal day: children to be picked up, food simmering, and a pace she has chosen herself.

As a former elite handball player with a master's degree in Sports Science, Emilie has known the body in many ways. She has optimized it, trained it, and studied it. But the greatest insight didn't come from a training plan or a food pyramid. It came when she consciously chose to let go of something — and found meaning in something slower.

"Nourishment doesn't always look the same. Some days, it's this."

Q: You have a background as an elite athlete and in sports science — when did your view on the body and nutrition change?

"It was when I became a mother. Suddenly, it was no longer about performance. It was about what actually nourishes the body and family in the long run."

Q: How does nutrition look in your everyday life?

"Food is made from scratch and can take time. I made bolognese with bone broth that was allowed to simmer for a few hours while I picked up kids and worked out. It's not a diet. It's everyday life."

"I opted out of some things – and found meaning in something slower."

Q: You've chosen a different rhythm than many others your age. What drove that decision?

"I chose to slow down and prioritize what nourishes me most. My family. My children. A home that feels safe and warm to grow up in. I call it 'semi-homeschooling' myself, and it's a choice I wouldn't trade for anything."

Q: You are still working, but on your own terms?

"The 15 hours a week I work, I spend on what I'm passionate about. At YO Studios, I plan health and movement events and teach functional training, HYROX, and yoga. A life in balance, but on my own terms."

"I didn't want shortcuts. I wanted the real thing."
